Golf Courses in Galloway and South Ayrshire

We have many excellent golf courses in Galloway and South Ayrshire. In the Rhins of Galloway we have two of the Top 100 Courses of Scotland – Portpatrick, Dunskey and Creachmore, Stranraer.

Visitors staying at Hotels and Guest Houses in villages such as Portpatrick often qualify for reduced rates on these and other courses – please enquire about this with your accommodation provider.

Portpatrick Dunskey Golf Course has a clifftop setting and offers spectacular views across the Irish Sea while Creachmore in Stranraer is on the shores of Loch Ryan. Sandeel. the 13th at Portpatrick Dunskey is reckoned to be one of the most visually stunning in Scottish Golf.

Close to Portpatrick is Lagganmore Golf Course, styled a “pay and play” course.

Stranraer Golf Course was the last golf course to be designed by James Braid.

In the Machars area are Wigtownshire County Golf Course near Glenluce, St. Medan`s Golf Club at Monreith, and a 9 hole course at Wigtown..

There are also golf courses in  Newton Stewart, New Galloway, Kirkcudbright and Gatehouse of Fleet.

In Southern Ayrshire we have Girvan Golf Course and, of course – Turnberry.

For those not feeling up to a full game of golf, there is a Pitch & Put in Portpatrick beside the Portpatrick Hotel while Portpatrick also has an excellent and ever popular putting green.

For golfers in Dumfries & Galloway there are special offers under the Gateway to Golf Pass  where you can play three rounds in five days from £90 or six rounds from £130. Participating Golf Courses include Portpatrick-Dunskey, Stranraer, Gatehouse of Fleet, Kirkcudbright, New Galloway, Newton Stewart, St Medan and Wigtownshire County.
