There are some stunning gardens in Galloway, many of them open to the public for the majority of the year. Within and around the Rhins of Galloway you can find Logan Botanic Garden (an RHS outpost) close to Port Logan, Dunsky Walled Garden at Portpatrick, Castle Kennedy Gardens (at Castle Kennedy) – seat of the Earls of Galloway and Glenwhan Gardens at Dunragit.
Due to our benign climate, driven by the Gulf Stream, many unusual and exotic species can be found growing in the area, from Chuson Palms to Euclyptus trees. We have provided a guide to these gardens on this site – although you should check on their relevant websites for current opening times and details of forthcoming events.
